  5. Srigouri talked about not only the blue light demonstration but the safety app demonstration would be helpful.
  6. Srigouri also talked about some students living in Ro house who are not aware of the safety services which might be something we can look into for more feedback.
  7. Vishnu suggested having student life and LEED post an introduction video of Safety BTS information for more reach.
  8. Srigouri asked if safety kits can be distributed in resident halls.
  9. Mr. Jackson responded that pepper spray would not be accepted due to the weapon violation policy, but other kits would be definitely plausible.
  10. Mr. Jackson said Public Safety’s presentation during the orientation week was not successful thus they transitioned to smaller group, organization based formats.
  11. Srigouri and Sumi talked about potentially partnering with different organizations to host self-defense classes.
  12. Mr. Jackson talked about the current program ran by Mr. John Walter contains 3 hours long three sessions. He suggested condensing the class to one session, but still being aware that these classes might be triggering for survivors.
  13. Srigouri suggested having an in-person self-defence class during the orientation instead of a presentation.
  14. Vishnu talked about having EMT mass training on campus and being open to the general body would be helpful.
  15. The safety email shifted from opt-in to opt-out system.
  16. Srigouri showed the safety Instagram post that was supposed to be sent out.
  17. Vishnu talked about how many students are not aware of BHCST resources. It would be a great idea to have them advertised on the SGA platform.

  19. Mr. Jackson’s email is jjacks48@jhu.edu.

  22. Dr. Brown talked about having a space for engagement with the public safety team.
  23. Tyler talked about the directors dressing casually to blend into the student body.
  24. Ms. Christin agreed with the idea of social media. She has been working on content and pitching it with different organizations.
  25. Ms. Christin talked about potentially collaborating with the Director of Communication.
  26. Mr. Jackson addressed that he will discuss with the team to come up with the timeline and more plans.
  27. “Prohibition on the Consideration of Race…”
  28. Tyler asked what the post by jhustudent of multicultural org about JHU getting rid of DEI.
  29. Dr. Brown responded that the additional language was to be more explicit that the initiations and engagement places are open to everyone.
  30. The current presidential office is investigating institutions with a certain size of endowments. The admin did not want anything to be misinterpreted thus made the policy to clearly state that all the organization initiatives are including the certain language to highlight that all Hopkins affiliates are welcome and the events are legally compliant. No race sex, identity are receiving any different treatment than other identities. The admin is not getting rid of DEI, but doubling down on the guideline.
  31. Tyler asked why the communication was not carried out to the student body.
  32. Dr. Brown and Charles spoke about the information that has been out for students over time and it is not meant to be hidden nor had ill intent. The student org expectation page highlights the same idea on their website. The policy was to ensure and state the inclusivity is legally compliant. The supreme court decision stated no students are receiving additional resources different from other students. The example would be that JUMP used to be a resource format for students pursuing medicine who are from underserved/ underrepresented communities. Now with the supreme court decision, JUMP shifted to being open to all students who are pursuing practicing medicine in underserved communities.
  33. Srigouri talked about how the language can be misunderstood that people who need it can no longer access the resources, instead of the true purpose which is to open up all resources to all Hopkins affiliates.
  34. Dr. Brown spoke about that the admin is doing these changes to still have the resources open to everyone under the supreme court decision. For example, the FLI program is solely based on a student's profile as a first generation, thus it is not under the legal regulation.
  35. Charles addressed that the resources specific to identities are not being taken away, but being open to everyone so we can continue providing the resources.
  36. Srigouri highlighted that the language used in the clause such as prohibition of “safe-space” for specific ethnic groups can be frustrating to students.
  37. Dr. Brown responded that the admin decided to use the language used by the government on our policy, but when the organization comes to the faculties to host safe space, the event would be advised to be promoted to be open to all Hopkins affiliates. The policy highlights that any “exclusive space” is prohibited. The safe spaces will be approved, and the students will receive support from the faculties to make sure that the language and promotion of the initiations are compliant with legal decision, which is to have every space and resources open to everyone.
  38. Srigouri suggested having a meeting with multicultural org representatives to explain the policy.
  39. Dr. Brown responded by potentially having a space or lunch with her and Dr. Rachel.
  40. No programs were ceased due to the DEI.
  41. Well-being Day Passes
  42. Apparel for all members
  43. Updates about Blue Jay Dialogue Innovation Fund
  44. Lighting of the Quads (fireworks, possible collaboration, location etc.)
