Act to Fund Thank You & Holiday Cards

Thank You & Appreciation Initiative

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Thank You & Appreciation Initiative”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS & PURPOSES:

1. The main purpose of this initiative is to allow us to give back and show our appreciation to Hopkins staff, classmates, or anyone who we want to express gratitude towards, right before Thanksgiving and the holiday season. The hard work, support, and dedication from all those around us really make a difference, and we wanted to express our gratitude by writing Thank You or Holiday Cards for them.
2. Members of the Student Services Committee or any student can write a Thank You or Holiday Card and they will be distributed out. It would be a really nice thing to do right before Thanksgiving Break and for us to reflect on our community and the people who make us us.
3. Additionally, we hope to also do something similar right before Winter Break, so we are aiming to also hand-write some Holiday Cards before we leave after Finals. We would host a card-making session during one of our committee times before the semester ends and it would be a great way for students to just reflect and express gratitude.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

1. The total amount would be $50.36.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
