- Report from Brandon about Finance
- In our discretionary, we have 16503 USD left.
- Stone asked if everyone got their semesterly allocations and Brandon said that they did.
- Logistics for the town hall-Nasreen
- She made a briefing document for tomorrow. It hasn’t been sent out yet. She wants Cynthia and Nayshawn to view it before it is sent out.
- The agenda items and durations were describes as opening guidelines for the first 5 minutes, student contributions for 1 hour, presentation of survey and resolution for 30 minutes, next steps and action plan for 30 minutes.
- Cynthia and Nayshawn will send their form as a draft and Nasreen will check.
- No devices will be allowed.
- Brandon and Srigouri will chair the meeting together. They will make sure the student contributions are productive.
- Nasreen wants to cut the student contributions part a little bit and add it to future plans.
- Stone asked if we are expecting to reach a resolution and Nasreen said that she’s not expecting to. Nasreen said that this won’t be a normal GBM so we won’t be voting on anything.
- Stone said that 14 people registered so far, wondering if this number is low. Nasreen thinks having 14 non-SGA people is high. Brandon said that this might be an underestimate according to what he heard from other people. We will advertise more today to increase the participation.
- Amy will ask people to not skip tomorrow and come on time.
- Amy asked if we should include the schedule in the announcement. She said that the order of the conversation can be shared but not the times.
- Nasreen asked if we should enforce a dress code, Amy doesn’t think so, which Nasreen agrees with.
- Buse will send the guidelines and talking points to The News-Letter to guide what they are gonna write about, yet not the survey and presentation. There will be a closed session when talking about the resolution.
- Buse talked to Christopher Amanat and a News-Letter article will be written about the situation at Nolan's.
- Pres.Daniels Meeting Preparation - Stone
- Stone wants to make sure we have enough time to prepare. There will be an announcement this week or next week asking people what they want us to talk about and what to do about the construction issues. We will internally coordinate a time to join a preparation meeting.
- Charles asked what we mean by a preparation meeting. Stone explained that it is to go over what we will talk about in that meeting.
- Charles made sure that the executive branch is aware of the fact that only people in this group will be talking to President Daniels.
- Charles said that he talked to Nayshawn and Cynthia with Nas. We will coordinate something for Dr Brown and Rachelle but it is hard to get a meeting with the Presidents’ Office.
- Exec-Senate Relations - Tim
- Tim asked Charles a question. Last GBM, we got a lot of senators concerned about how initiatives are brought up in meetings. People are now contacting the executive branch more about some issues since last year, but now people think that they have to get their approval to get things done.
- Buse thinks that this is because we are very involved, to the point where they assume an initiative is not in the works if the executive branch is not involved with it.
- Nasreen believes that it might also be because senators mostly don’t know what to do exactly. She believes that we might need to step down. She heard from several senators that they are gatekeeping their initiatives.
- Charles asked if the people in the senate know who he is, to which the executive board responded no. He pointed out that they don’t have to email the exec and that they can send an email to Charles. Angela is in Civic Engagement and she has been in communication with Charles for a while. He asked the executive board to not allow the senate to use this as an excuse. While there are three different branches, SGA’s initiatives are SGA’s. Charles thinks that after meeting with Daniels, we can connect with the people who are leading the initiatives that came up in that meeting.
- Charles asked if he should come to the GBM and say hi. Nasreen agreed. He will show up to an available meeting eventually. We will cancel the GBM on the night of the election and encourage people to go to a watch party.
- Jessica will close the applications on Friday. After the town hall, we can share on our story that the applications will be closing. Assistant secretaries will be closed sooner than the other ones. Buse will interview the candidates.
- Tim said that we also need Sophomore and Junior programming people. Nas will handle this with Tim. There will be one application for everything on Hopkins Groups.
- Charles asked when the draft for the recap of the resolution will be sent to him, to which the branch responded that it would be sent by tomorrow.
- Tim asked Charles to talk to Brown so that she would approve the Major Fair event.
- Brown has been out of town. There will be a few slight changes to Cynthia and Nayshawn’s survey with Brown.
- Charles asked if we have been collaborating with the CSE about the elections. Charles suggested us to reach out to them to see how we can support them.
- Stone asked what we are going to say about the communication from the admin as they added another fence. Charles will talk with Stone about this. Since it’s an active construction site, they will be adding fences without telling us unfortunately. He knows that it is inconvenient but the library is big, going all the way to the end of Keyser Quad and they are working on us to have this library ready.
- Stone doesn’t want to give off the impression that we don’t only care about the construction.
- Charles said that we will need to finish what we have started and we have to work on multiple things. He added that the construction email should have been drafted last week.
