Senator, COLA - Class of 2007

Reporting about the SGA, not a record of it: The Johns Hopkins News-Letter published this and the SGA did not write it, file it, or approve it. The archive holds it because the article itself uses the phrase “student council”.

Senator, COLA - Class of 2007

The Johns Hopkins News-Letter · April 15, 2004

Jered Ede

With the end of the school year no close in our sights, it is hard for us to remain committed to the work we have taken upon ourselves earlier in the year. This feeling is the remnant from the ever-famous "senioritis' we all experienced last year in high school. There is one thing that sets us apart from other students at other universities, and that is determination and perseverance.?

This is why I am before you today asking you to vote for me for rising-Sophomore Senator for Committee on Leadership Appointments.?

I have remained committed to choosing the best-qualified students to fill the positions available, recently voting on the MSE symposium chairs for the Fall of 2004.

I will continue to remain committed to excellence, and to accountability; making the student's voice heard in the Student Assembly.

Matthew Bergman

My name is Matthew Bergman and I am running for sophomore class Senator of Leadership Appointments (COLA ~ Committee of Leadership Appointments). Having witnessed StuCo meetings, I've noticed that there is much to be done, and together we can make this place how we would like it to be -- a paradise if you will. I am no stranger to student council. In high school I was elected to serve as treasurer and a member of a shared decision making committee, which discussed pressing issues to the school community at large and aided hiring committees for open positions in the school.

By senior year, I was selected to be on the principal's executive board. In each of these bodies, I made sure that projects were fully carried out, responsible decisions were made, and my constituent's desires were satisfied. It is my desire to serve those I represent and my experience in leadership appointment that has led me to this point. I am ready to pledge my all for my class, "cause hey we all know "it's better than yours."

As president of student council in high school I gained a great deal of experience that will help student council at this transitional time. I am an active member in a number of different groups on campus and therefore able to represent the interests of many organizations. I am always willing to listen to ideas and with your support would like to secure a Long Term Relationship with StuCo. Vote for a good time and Get Cozy with Rose Z!
