Sustainability Plan Tabling Funding Bill

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University assembled that:

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Sustainability Plan Tabling Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
  3. HSS — The term “HSS” shall refer to the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Committee in the Student Government Association.
  4. OoS - The term “OoS” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University Office of Sustainability.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES
    1. Johns Hopkins University is releasing a new draft of the Sustainability Plan, recommendations for strategies, goals, and metrics to advance university sustainability. The JHU OoS has reached out to SGA HSS to promote the open input period and ask for comments on the new draft. It will be open from September 18th through October 20th for comments.
    2. The purpose of this event is for the JHU OoS and SGA HSS to promote the open input period. This allows students to provide feedback on the Sustainability Plan and get involved in sustainability at Hopkins. Since SGA has a seat in the Sustainability Leadership Council’s Steering Committee that spearheaded this plan, it is imperative that SGA use its resources to promote it.
      1. The event will take place at the Breezeway on October 16th from 11-1 pm. The goal of the event is for people to learn about the sustainability plan and provide input.
      2. If the students show that they follow @JHUSustainability and @JHUSGA, they will be able to get free candy. The students will be able to get a free succulent if they answer a question about the Sustainability Plan draft or comment on Koneivo.
      3. This will increase SGA Visibility and promote sustainability on campus. The items included at the event will be given out to the student body for free.

  1. The total amount would be $102.98 for the candy and succulents. The Office of Sustainability will provide other merchandise.

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
