Take Notes Textbooks Supplying enough physical textbooks for every student is not feasible (financial aid office for that) Can look into getting a few more than 1 Some textbooks are reserved by the professors for classes. Deans encouraged communication between professors and libraries to make online or free resources available when possible. Course Manuals a hackathon-style initiative that pays students to collaborate on manuals, instead of relying on volunteers. Faculty support will be gauged, should be done by the end of fall semester. Issue with Principedia: past efforts failed due to lack of continuity—as students graduated, new participants weren’t recruited, and upkeep was less appealing once the initial build was complete. Foundational Abilities (FA) Course Tagging Issues Need and currently looking into for a better system for students to report missing FA tags (e.g., when a tag disappears from SIS or Stellic). Dean Rowe: Most KSAS courses that count toward a major or minor will eventually be tagged A technological fix may have been found to address the mismatch between SIS and Stellic systems. Public Health and Business School courses remain problematic since SIS doesn’t automatically tag them. The Registrar resists “retroactive tagging,” but Dean Rowe supports it, framing it as “fixing” rather than retroactively changing records. WSE (Engineering) is expected to avoid these tagging problems, as its FA system will roll out in Fall 2025 instead of Fall 2024. Not too many complaints so far, only 1 semester of data Reposting the Deans Dean Rowe plans to post updates but needs some help Dean Falk only posts dog pictures There’s also an official “undergrad academic affairs” account? I couldn’t find it
