SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS and PURPOSES:
- As an undergraduate student body with the majority population being female-identifying, we wanted to ultimately support and be of service to the women of the Hopkins community. Menstrual health is an incredibly important component of health and well-being.
- We will work with Hopkins Food Pantry for further distribution, and we will also distribute products around campus (Brody, Student Center, Breezeway, etc.)
- Provide menstrual products to support equitable access to essential health resources and reduce barriers that may disrupt sleep and daily functioning.
- Limited or inconsistent access to menstrual products may also increase stress and interrupt overnight sleep, further impacting academic performance and well-being. Addressing menstrual wellness alongside sleep education promotes a more comprehensive and equitable approach to student health.
- Feminine hygiene products continue to be an item of high demand on campus, and to showcase our support and appreciation of women, we wanted to give away free menstrual products for our students.
- Allow students to sign a petition pushing for Facilities to provide free feminine hygiene products in all female bathrooms and gender-neutral bathrooms.
- Preliminary Survey data indicate an overwhelming preference for pads, so ordering all pads
- With a majority population consisting of female-identifying students, Hopkins should serve and support the people that make the University
- Additionally, Student Services members will (and other SGA members can) help put together these goodie bags and hand them out.
