AN SGA EVENT FUNDING BILL

ACT TO FUND THE NATIONAL DAY OF Kindness

CONSIDERED THE DAY OF 28 IN THE MONTH OF October IN THE YEAR 2025 Sponsors: Kirsten and Amy

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “National Day of Kindness.”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS. (a) SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.

(b) JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. (a) FINDINGS & PURPOSES a. Recognizing the importance of uplifting the campus community as students near the end of the first semester. b. Promote kindness and positivity by encouraging SGA members to share heartfelt messages and distribute cards with affirming words. c. Strengthen school spirit by giving away two additional items that celebrate kindness and pride in being a Blue Jay. d. Increase awareness of SGA’s presence and commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive student experience. e. Provide a meaningful opportunity for connection among students, encouraging them to take a moment to pause, reflect, and engage with one another. f. Support student well-being and create a welcoming atmosphere within the Student Center during a typically high-stress academic period. g. The event will occur in November inside the Student Center, in celebration of National Day of Kindness. SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

UPON PASSAGE, WE HAVE HEREUNTO SET OUR HANDS AND CAUSED THE SEAL OF THE SENATE TO BE AFFIXED TO THIS BILL INDICATING THE SENATE’S ASSENT AND THUS OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED THE BILL’S ADOPTION AS LAW.
