An SGA Funding Bill

Act to Fund Student Services Engagement Funding Bill

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Student Engagement Initiative”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS & PURPOSES:

  1. One thing that the Student Services Committee would like to do more of this semester is film videos and directly engage with students through that form
  2. Other schools put out videos that feature students answering questions, doing interviews, and hosting different gameshows
  3. Earlier in the school year, we discussed engaging in collaboration with other departments and committees in filming interviews, creative content, and other forms of video engagement
  4. Through engaging and fun videos, we hope to be able to directly interact, interview, and speak with students and allow them to partake and participate in these videos
  5. Many committee members mentioned a potential speed-dating/pop the balloon style video idea → more YouTube style content that allows students to get involved
  6. Builds community while also fostering sense of school spirit and enhancing the dialogue, communication, and student engagement

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

  1. The total amount would be $97.94

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 6. ACTION ITEMS.

  • Bill to pass tonight (2/24) and for Finance Committee to approve tomorrow
  • LEED to put in the order by the end of the week
  • Start filming student interviews by mid-March as soon as the materials come in

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
