Act to Fund Study with Academic Affairs event

Introduced by: Senator Amy Xu of the Whiting School of Engineering Considered this the day of March 25th in the year 2025

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “AA Study Event Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
3. AA – Academic Affairs Committee in SGA

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES (explain why funding is needed, what the event is for, and what content and sponsorship is desired -- open to all? Celebrating event? Etc. )
   1. Promote Academic Affairs and SGA to the student body in an inviting space in-person and distributed materials
   2. Promote less-utilized study spaces
   3. Open to all, but projected attendance is around 50 people
   4. Event will occur for 3 hours in Levering Lounge on 4/16, 7:30pm-10:30pm

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

1. The total amount would be $247
2. AA and other SGA volunteers will be organizing bags, printing and distributing materials, and hosting the event
3. Need $247

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to x with x abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
