Agenda
- Report from Brandon about Finance - Liaison program turnout?
- Brandon said that it is not going particularly well. People are either not communicating well with him or not doing their duties. He has been getting email after email that budgets are not in. Brandon and Oluwakemi both went through it and allocations are still not in.
- Stone asked if the meeting was in-person. Brandon said it was but a lot of people came virtually. Stone suggested requiring an in person meeting for this week.
- Stone asked if the liaison program is related to the initial budget allocations because JHU Breakers emailed him asking what their budgets are. Brandon will do it on behalf of the person who was responsible for it.
- Stone suggested having completion of tasks as the way attendance is taken in Finance, like CSO does.
- Amy said that we can also give them the opportunity to not come to the meeting if they complete their tasks, yet Tim said that finance has to vote in the meetings for the bills.
- Stone asked this to be prioritized. He also asked Brandon to talk during Exec Updates and remind Finance the importance of this and ask them to come in person.
- Amy asked him to reemphasize the expectations.
- Follow up with President Daniels - next meeting
- Stone believes we will send this through Charles and Brittani. Charles asked us to draft an email and get it done by tomorrow as that’s when he will meet with Brittani. Stone will write this.
- Tuesday GBM Agenda Overview
- Nasreen said that the agenda is packed this week as Srigouri, Nayshawn and Oluwakemi all have bills or presentations. Freshman Senators' inauguration will take place, which shouldn’t take too long. There will also be a speaker and Tim’s JayGames and SGA Leadership event announcements. We will skip cohort time. We might ask Srigouri and Oluwakemi if their presentations are long. If so, we might ask them to do it next week.
- Amy asked how long the speaker will take. Nasreen expects him to take 10 minutes and 5 minutes for Q&A. Stone confirmed and said that he will only do 15 if he needs to.
- Resolution will be in second reading and it will take 20 minutes. Nasreen believes that people will want to talk about it for sure. Nasreen doesn’t think we have to rush. We had two very short GBMs so people need to remember they’re in the SGA for a reason.
- Nasreen said that Kemi wants to present voting registration slides and parking updates. Srigouri wants to make a recap and feedback about wellbeing day.
- We will ask them to give these updates later. Amy said that we can also ask them to shorten their presentations.
- Stone said that VP of Senate elections can be done next week, yet Nas pointed out that people want to do it tomorrow as they are super excited.
- Amy said that we can inform the senate and tell them we have a packed agenda, so we can let everyone know we will not have the elections tomorrow.
- Amy also pointed out that freshmen won’t be able to vote with much knowledge as they do not know anyone. Buse said that this is enough of a reason to not have the elections this week. If we have time at the end, we might do it but probably not.
- Nasreen said that people are sending her empty bills. Charles said that people shouldn’t be doing that and Nasreen shouldn’t accept blank documents.
- Vacancies and resignations
- Vacancies: Disability, all class programming councils, 2? Junior class council members, advocacy, Judicial branch
- We will need to push these applications out.
- What to do about Avishi
- Stone asked if we haven’t sent the email already.
- Buse said that we should have sent the email before removing her from everything.
- Tim pointed out that everything about filling vacancies is on the Pres of Senate, so Nasreen will send the emails. He later on corrected that there is no specific information about removing people. Nasreen will send out an email
- SGA GroupMe for general conversation will be added to the agenda.
- Buse asked to add assistant secretaries, too. Amy asked if we had a bills sheet. Buse will make one this week and assistant secretaries can handle this.
- Vacancies: Disability, all class programming councils, 2? Junior class council members, advocacy, Judicial branch
- Programming Return
- Leadership Workshop
- Tim asked Charles if the RSO email was sent out. Tim asked to be sent out today.
- The workshop will take place this Saturday. Tim asked if Brandon will be able to come, to which he said he will.
- Stone asked those who go to JayGames as volunteers to be given attendance incentives, to which Nasreen said yes.
- Nasreen said that people have been asking for attendance incentives for their own events.
- Tim asked if Potbelly had been ordered yet. Brandon said that it should be in. Tim will check with Jessica.
- Charles pointed out that the purchase request should have been in two weeks prior, so Brandon will talk to Jessica.
- Tim asked Brandon to check JayGames and October Tabling bills to see if they are in, too. JayGames is in; October Tabling is not.
- Brandon is not seeing Potbelly in the payment request thing. Tim will talk to Jessica to get that ordered.
- Charles will talk to Jessica after this meeting. We might ask Jessica to handle that tomorrow.
- Leadership Workshop
- Campus Construction Resolution
- Charles and Stone talked about it. He was supportive and gave good feedback. Charles asked what will happen if they say no to tuition reduction. Stone said that we will move forward with other things and push for those. Stone wants to discuss this with the senate.
- Stone asked if we can get the approval now, to which Charles said he’d prefer to get it after all edits are made and finalized. It will be sent to Charles after the GBM.
- Amy asked what the blue light security things are. Charles said that he thinks they came from public safety.
- During family weekend a lot of people were asking how we’re handling student safety, so this might be why we have those now.
- Those things can pick up audio and any suspicious activity. The one at the Beach can take the noises all the way from CharMar.
- Charles said that it also allows security to find the people who try to enter MSE.
- Classroom Repair Initiative
- Email follow up will be sent and Stone will work with AA.
- Transportation Initiative
- People who are in this initiative will send out a follow up.
- Nolan’s Understaffed Team
- Stone said that someone reached out to him telling him about the unsanitary conditions at Nolan’s (juice getting mixed with tap water) and that the staff is quite unhappy and not satisfied with how staffing works. We need to bring this up with Hopkins Dining. Charles will proofread our email.
