An SGA MSA cosponsorship Funding Bill

Act to Fund the MSA event InterMSA Iftar Dinner in 2024

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the InterMSA Iftar Funding Bill

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
  3. JHUMA- The term “JHUMA” Johns Hopkins University Muslim Association
  4. UMBC- The term “UMBC” refers to the University of Maryland Baltimore County
  5. ABSA - Ahlul Bayt Student Association
  6. CCBC - “Community College of Baltimore County

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS & PURPOSES: The purpose of requesting supplemental funding from SGA is to accommodate students from all across Maryland for our inaugural InterMSA Iftar dinner. Students from Towson University, McDaniel College, Stevenson, Bowie State, CCBC, and UMBC will be in attendance. The funding would be used to buy decorations and other items that will be used in subsequent years. We hope this becomes a tradition each year to connect Muslim students in the Hopkins network and Maryland at such an auspicious time of the year.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

  1. The total amount would be $1009.08

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
