Be it enacted by the Senate of the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University assembled that:

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Earth Fest Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
  3. HSS — The term “HSS” shall refer to the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Committee in the Student Government Association.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES
    1. This event is in collaboration with the JHU Office of Sustainability. They are planning Earth Fest as a celebration of sustainability for Earth Day. Different sustainability groups and departments will be tabling such as Sustainable Hopkins Innovative Projects, Dining, Health Promotion and Wellbeing, and Outdoors Club. Our vision is to create a mural with recycled bottle caps in the shape of a circle. During Earth Fest, students will be able to paint bottle caps, similar to a paint-by-number photo. When assembled and glued together, the bottle caps should resemble an image of the Earth in a circular shape. We intend to put the bottle caps onto some background/canvas and then frame it to be hung up, hopefully in the Student Center when it opens.
      1. The event will take place on Friday, April 18th, 2025 from 3-5pm at Keyser Quad.
    2. This will increase SGA Visibility and promote openness and transparency of what SGA does. It will also allow us to collaborate with multiple student organizations and promote sustainability on campus.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

  1. The total amount would be $135.67 for the canvas, painting set, gorilla glue, gloves, and art frame.

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
