Executive Meeting #15

  2. Vishnu and Srigouri suggested having committees run the OH.
  3. Sean responded that it is ideal to have the OH run by the exec. He also clarified that the OH is not mandated and the problem with having it run by committee is the representation of SGA as an entity. Moreover some committees do not make sense to be holding office hours.
  4. Srigouri and Vishnu addressed the issue of having the OH voluntarily that senators are already overwhelmed with the current schedule.
  5. Sean responded that the OH should be run by people who are willing to volunteer.
  6. Srigouri suggested mandating each committee to hold OH twice a semester so we can ensure there are always SGA members there to provide resources and not have to gather senators to volunteer.
  7. Sean added if we have the OH in place of the committee meeting, there would be no committee meeting.
  8. Vishnu clarified that they will cancel two committee meetings of the semester and hold the OH instead so the Act is more enforceable.
  9. Sean emphasized that he does not want to enforce the OH until it is required. He addressed that we only need 1 or 2 people to volunteer. He said it is more ideal to have a few people who are willing to use their time for SGA OH than mandating people to hold the OH when they are not willing to. He is worried about the quality being poor by mandating the OH.
  10. Omotara addressed that if the purpose is to help the students then who hosts the OH does not matter.
  11. Sean also responded that holding office hours during their free time is not a big burden.
  12. Vishnu advised Sean to attend the IA meeting on Saturday. He also suggested having senators vote on having either committee based or exec based. He then told Sean to have the bill edited and posted on the Teams chain so senators can check them before the GBM. Committees run the OH in place of 2 committee meetings and it is enforced by the committee chairs. Or, the OH is run by the executive board and senators volunteer to host the OH.

  14. Srigouri reported that the AA committee has experienced delay in email response from the advisors.
  15. Charles said there are layers of protocols and deans are not able to respond.
  16. Srigouri and Tyler addressed that previous year’s SGA was able to get so many things done. Now things take longer to get approved. We will meet the president Ron Daniel on March 15th for lunch.
  17. Vishnu said he will advise the senators to CC the executive board on their emails.

  19. Vishnu presented the survey to Charles. He mentioned that the survey will be sent out through SGA email once it is finalized.

  21. Vishnu said that Tarini and Kevin drafted a response to the Academic Deans and Charles said he will reach out to Dr. Brown regarding it.
