Summer Executive Meeting #3

Wednesday August 5th, 2026 / 4:00 PM / Virtual

   2. Present: Jazz, Sumi, Jazz, Jason, Amy, Grace
   3. Faculty: Charles, Tekeya
2. Agenda Items
   1. Who do we want at GBMS
      1. Jazz: Housing, rez, health wellness, transportation, deans (?), Newsletter
      2. Charles: Construction updates
      3. Jason: construction should be prioritized at one of the first GBMs
      4. Jazz: should focus on getting to know people in first GBM, also newsletter bc it will be relaxed, construction joins second meeting
      5. Amy: we need to work on intra-senator bond, big interactive activities helps improve closeness (games/debates/post-it activity)
      6. Sumi: committees sit together during GBMs, start GBMs with cohort time
      7. Jazz: ice breaker: meet up by class
      8. Nora + Sumi: maybe people can sit in groups
      9. Jazz: ice breakers about what's next to come
      10. Nora: recommend unmoderated caucuses when there are contentious discussions
      11. Jazz: not a fan of the pre-submitted questions being asked by Srigouri, Charles: system was to prevent questions from being repeated, Nora: doesn’t want exec vetting questions before the senate asks them
      12. Charles: concern about maintaining good relationship with exec
      13. Jazz: bills stuck because senators can’t speak for everyone that their bill would affect → run pieces in newsletter about certain initiatives and collect student feedback; Nora: maybe accompanied by digital survey/feedback mechanism
      14. Jazz: creating space with respect
      15. Jason: may not be able to make it to retreat - what’s the schedule?
      16. Charles: finance things: 200k extra money, review budgets and get them out to people, possibility of paid positions in SGA
          1. Amy: bureaucratic issue with approving new finance guidelines; needs GBM and committee to convene
          2. Charles: try to get people to meet over summer, or change constitution
      17. Jazz: attendance issues, committee leaders not taking attendance, community = food
      18. Nora: we need to focus on taking ourselves seriously
      19. Grace: possibility of introducing SGA early during first-year meetings, will keep us updated
      20. Sumi: making big contact info sheet, we should add what we can
      21. Sumi: Julia wants to present idea about collecting student feedbakc
   2. Updates
      1. Meeting next week with (Development of Alumni relations) on Wednesday for student philanthropy and fundraising education
