AN SGA EVENT FUNDING BILL

ACT TO FUND Hopthon Collaboration Funding Bill

CONSIDERED THE DAY OF 31 IN THE MONTH OF March IN THE YEAR 2026

SECTION 1. TITLE This Act may be referred to as the “HopTHON Collaboration Spring 2026.”

SECTION 2. FINDINGS & PURPOSES

  1. SGA — The term SGA shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. HopTHON is the largest student-run philanthropy organization at Johns Hopkins University. HopTHON works under the Children’s Miracle Network of Hospitals to raise money for Johns Hopkins Children’s Center at the Johns Hopkins Medical Campus. The organization not only fosters collaboration between students but also plans fun events for a positive cause that brings the Hopkins community together.
  2. The End of Semester Event aims to bring together Miracle Families (current and former patients at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center who are representatives of the hospital) in addition to JHU faculty, staff, and students. The goal is to bring awareness to HopTHON’s cause and support fundraising efforts, as well as to provide a light-hearted and collaborative event for Hopkins students.
    1. Pancake night
  3. The End of Semester Event will be during reading week.
  4. The event will take place during Spring Fair (April 23rd-April 25th) at a later-decided time with participating professors
  5. Spring Fair Assistance
    1. Shirts from Custom Ink– allows us to only buy what we need
      1. Shirts will be sold for $20 each, and all profits with go directly to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in the name of HopTHON and SGA
    2. Stickers
    3. Pie in face, working with professors to pick a date + time
      1. Each pie will be $5, going directly to Johns Hopkins Children’s Center
  6. SGA assistance will provide incentives for students and staff to learn more about HopTHON and move toward fostering a more cohesive community between patients at Hopkins Hospital and JHU. Visibility of SGA at this event can also promote knowledge about SGA and incentivize student engagement.
  7. In return for funding, the SGA logo will be present on all marketing for the event, including social media posts and any banners/signs on the day of the event.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY.

Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional, or remainder of the Act, the amendments made by the Act, and the application of such provision or amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

UPON PASSAGE, WE HAVE HEREUNTO SET OUR HANDS AND CAUSED THE SEAL OF THE SENATE TO BE AFFIXED TO THIS BILL INDICATING THE SENATE’S ASSENT AND THUS OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED THE BILL’S ADOPTION AS LAW.
