Asian, Pacific Islander, and Desi American (APIDA) Caucus

Disability Caucus (DC) - Raven McCoy (rmccoy25@jhu.edu): Looking to get involved and help build the disability community on campus, be a part of campus advocacy and express what accessibility improvements you want to see at JHU? The Disability Caucus is a student-led group within SGA, and we are looking for new members interested in any of these things! DC works to improve communication between students and admin regarding accommodations, accessibility, and support for disabled students to improve their overall experience on campus. We meet on the last Saturday of each month at 2 pm. Women and Gender Minorities (WGMC) Caucus - Hailey Saya Tomlinson (htomlin2@jhmi.edu): Are you passionate about advocating for a more inclusive and diverse campus environment? Do you want to play a crucial role in shaping the student experience for women, transgender, gender-nonconforming, and gender-minority students at Johns Hopkins University? If so, we invite you to join the Women & Gender Minority Caucus for the Student Government Association!

The Women & Gender Minority Caucus is a dynamic and vital part of the Student Government Association at JHU. By joining our caucus, you'll have the opportunity to provide direct input into all SGA activities across campus, ensuring that the unique perspectives and needs of all women & gender-minority students at JHU are fully represented.

All WGMC members are encouraged (but not required) to attend regular SGA General Body Meetings every Tuesday from 7-9pm in Hackerman B17.

First-Generation, Limited-Income (FLI) Caucus - Sun Moon (gmoon3@jhu.edu): Hello! My name is Sun, the Chair for First-Generation, Limited-Income (FLI) Caucus in SGA. I am looking for students who are interested in working to advance, represent the needs and concerns of, and promote greater equality for the FLI community. We’ll achieve this by endorsing and suggesting legislation aimed to help FLI students and acting as a safe space for FLI students. We’ll also work on exciting initiatives! Furthermore, we will be holding Caucus Meetings twice per month (Friday at 3 PM) with interested students and student groups to discuss issues and opportunities deemed relevant to FLI students. Black Caucus - Tyler Turner (tturne41@jhu.edu): Join The Black Caucus serves as a dedicated collective, passionately advocating for and amplifying the voices within the Black Community. Our core mission revolves around event planning, engaging in meaningful dialogues with the administration, and fostering unity within the campus community. Through a proactive approach, we aim to address issues, celebrate achievements, and create a supportive environment that encourages collaboration and understanding. By organizing events, initiating conversations, and actively participating in campus activities, we strive to promote inclusivity, diversity, and empowerment. In doing so, the Black Caucus becomes an essential force in shaping a campus atmosphere that reflects the values of equity, justice, and communal strength.

Student Athletes - Molly Kuzma (mkuzma1@jhu.edu) Join the Student Athlete Caucus at Johns Hopkins University to make your voice heard and shape the student athlete experience on campus! Led by passionate student representatives, we aim to address the unique challenges and opportunities faced by over 700 varsity student-athletes across 22 NCAA DIII and 2 NCAA DI teams. Our caucus provides a platform for advocacy, support, and collaboration, striving to improve visibility, school spirit, and the overall experience of student athletes. Hispanic/Latine Caucus - Cynthia Sanchez Hidalgo (csanch26@jh.edu) Join the Latine Caucus to make sure your voice is heard! Joining the caucus is a low commitment that can have a high impact on our community! Not only will we be working to start new initiatives that will help the latine community on campus but we will also be having important conversations about the change(s) our community wishes to see! This semester we will be meeting biweekly on Mondays from 12PM to 1PM on zoom. Come and share any ideas you have for our campus and community! Be the change you want to see!
