Academic Affairs Transition Document 2023-2024 Committee Members

What Does Academic Affairs Do? Academic Affairs works towards school-wide issues regarding academics. These contain (but are not limited to):

  • Registration Issues
  • Course Requirements/Classwork
  • Academic Resources
  • Degree Audit
  • Pilot
  • Course Transfers

Requirements

  • Chair and Vice Chair need to set up meetings with Vice Dean Erin

Rowe (KSAS) and Vice Dean Michael Falk (WSE) every month.

  • This is the best way to directly talk about initiatives.
  • Reach out early August, and then keep the connection up. They

are very kind. Goals for Next Year

  1. Do the Academic Affairs Survey regarding course transferring and

potential breaks for schoolwork over breaks a. Survey: Academic Affairs Survey.docx b. Wellness: Work with HSS

  1. Finish Michael’s Initiative on POS (Position of Study) Tags on

  1. Work on further trying to get support for Peabody Students and

getting them out of using the common app for reapplication a. Please talk to Danial about this

  1. Try to push for professors to send syllabi a week early when

school starts. Yes, we know that it is virtually impossible to get faculty to finish syllabi by registration, but this can be a possible step.

  1. Talk with DMC to bring back licenses for Adobe Creative Cloud

software, which used to be offered to everyone before the 2024-25 school year. What We Did Last Year

  1. Create the JHU Major Fair
  2. Created a relation between Peabody SGA and Academic Affairs for

Dual-Degree students

  1. Met with the registar to bring up issues regarding outdated courses
  2. Talked to the WSE deans about increased research support - put on

hold for now

  1. Talked extensively about CUE2 (will add documents here)
  2. Finished the academic survey (but haven’t sent it out yet)
  3. Talked about course manuals to revamp support for students
  4. Talked about the new degree audit system, coming 2024
