An SGA Bill for ABSA Funding

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University assembled that:

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “ABSA Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
  3. ABSA, AhlulBayt Student Association

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES

The ABSA Ice Skating Social aims to foster a sense of community, connection, and belonging among Muslim students at Johns Hopkins and beyond. By bringing together students from different backgrounds, this event will serve as a welcoming space for members to engage in meaningful conversations, strengthen friendships, and create new bonds in a fun and relaxed environment. This event is particularly important as a means of building unity among the Maryland Muslim community, providing a space for students across different institutions to gather, share experiences, and support one another. ABSA has previously collaborated with other campuses on regional events, and this ice skating social continues our commitment to strengthening these inter-campus relationships.

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
