An SGA Event Funding Bill

Act to Fund Spotlight Fridays

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Spotlight Fridays Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
  3. RSO—The term “RSO” shall refer to “Registered Student Organization”.
  4. SF—The term “SF” shall refer to “Spotlight Fridays” which is for the purpose of fulfilling the responsibilities of the Chair of the RSO Committee.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. The RSO committee is introducing Spotlight Fridays in order to highlight different organizations on campus and to celebrate them.
  2. This event will be recurring and take place multiple times over the school year to highlight different groups.
  3. The RSO committee would like to work with new groups in order to open the doors to future collaborations as well.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

  1. The total amount would be $200.00.
  2. This $200.00 would act as a blanket for items that will be bought during planning meetings with the different RSO sections.
  3. Each Spotlight Friday will be allotted $100.00 to go towards whatever each RSO section would like to put it towards. i.e. raffle gifts or items needed to support their event. If funds are expected to exceed $100.00, the corresponding RSO section and groups will have to provide it.
  4. $200.00 is being requested to fund two planned RSO Spotlight Fridays planned for this semester: One in October, and one in December.

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to x with x abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
