- Board Town Hall
- Srigouri spoke on behalf of Academic Affairs about the idea of having board town halls to update on changes around the campus to the student body. She also noted that JEFRE has a town hall but it is limited. If the events can be advertised more, that would give students an opportunity to have more information about the campus.
- Dr. Brown spoke about how town hall scenarios may be unproductive if not planned well. She asked how the admin can coordinate the town hall so it is a respectful and productive process for everyone.
- Srigouri suggested the town hall to be in a webinar format, and to have a representative from each team. She underlined the importance of giving students an opportunity to share their experience.
- Vishnu also noted having Q&A forms so the town hall will not just be a monologue.
- Srioguri suggested having the admin present their office’s goals and their plans for the academic year, and opening a question box for students.
- Dr. Brown asked if we want the same faculties and offices we invite to GBMs.
- Srigouri noted we can select specific offices that have high demand among the student body.
- Dr. Brown asked when the town hall should be held.
- Vishnu and Srigouri responded any time soon, for instance 5 pm on Thursdays, on the topic of Construction, Academic, Transportation, and Dining offices would be the priority. Vishnu also noted being intentional with the title such as “webinar with (specific office).”
- Srigouri also noted having them advertised on TVs in dining halls.
- Dr. Brown noted we also need to have a moderator to lead the town hall. She will be reaching out to KSAS FA, JEFRE, and Dining offices.
- Student Affairs attending GBMs to collaborate with student org events instead of additional events
- Student committee with faculty oversight to streamline student academic feedback (Canvas, etc.) to the dean's office
- Credit overload, FAs change communication through social media
- Wellness Pass for Assignments - Srigouri
- She spoke about wellness pass initiative which is done in northeastern and Vanderbilt. But she noted that the problem at Hopkins is the volume and concentration of assignments, thus if students are having hard time handling their responsibilities they can get guaranteed 2 wellness passes to get an extra 48 hours to complete the assignment.
- Dr. Brown suggested having a certain deadline for the wellness pass as faculties noted they are willing to be flexible but it is difficult to respond and give extra time when students notify the professor last minute. She emphasized on having built in responsibilities for students to plan and give heads-up to the faculty as early as possible.
- Dr. Brown will be having conversation with KSAS and WSE faculties.
- Social media Approval
- Vishnu spoke about utilizing SGA instagram as an interactive platform where students can get information about updates. He asked about how the approval streamline should be planned.
- Dr. Brown replied SGA contents can be reviewed by Charles and Jessica. She also asked how quickly we want to post the updates of GBM. She suggested the quickest approval timeline would be Thursdays given the GBMs being on Tuesdays. She also noted that for GBMs with speakers, we can ask which key points the office is comfortable with being communicated on social media to avoid misinterpretation.
- She suggested asking 1. If we can use the presentation to post on SGA social media, 2. If we can use the key points from the presentation 3. If they can provide us some key points we can use. She emphasized on getting approval upfront.
- Srigouri suggested having the DoC Jo to create contents at the meeting and getting approval in person.
- Dr. Brown responded that the approval process after the meeting will be slower. She recommended getting approval upfront before the meeting.
- Dr. Brown reminded us to be more explicit that all students are welcome to events hosted by school.
