An SGA Funding Bill

Prospective student organization fair (PSO Fair) funding bill

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Prospective Student Organization Fair (PSO Fair) Funding Bill.”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. Prospective student organizations have difficulties finding genuinely interested members due to restrictions on promotion.
  2. A prospective student organization fair would give a platform for prospective orgs and students to connect.
  3. Taharka ice cream will be given out to the first ~75 students to show up to incentivize attendance.

  1. The total amount funded by SGA would initially be $826.00, subject to increase with a cap at $994.00.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 6. ACTION ITEMS.

  1. The introducer of the bill will send the approved version of the bill to LEED/Crystal by the end of the day on which it was passed
  2. A meeting will be set up with Charles and other relevant members of the LEED Office to schedule logistics (e.g. reserving the Beach, confirming support of Taharka partnership, advertising the fair, etc.).
  3. We will reach out to the list of prospective organizations provided to us by LEED in confirming their attendance and presentations.

The Bill is hereby ADOPTED/LOST by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
