Chair of Committee Kirsten presented:
PDF Initiative went over thinking about what we can do as a committee. On Wednesday (Sept 3rd) went over that meeting with Willow Goode, CSC Civic Life Specialist What we should figure out in September is days to do things in person. Possibly having an in person meeting on the 21st. @ center for social concern.
Middle:
Mentions of what our limitations of what we can & cannot do was mentioned.
Senator Ava & Senator Alan are part of the Student Services committee & described challenges of how the committee system works as a whole. Senator & Chair of Committee Kristen came up with an idea of increasing civic engagement & put out her vision of how the committee as a whole can expand on civic engagement creatively, rather than solely focusing on politics.
Creative Ideas Presented:
- Similar to subway street interviews, we can do JHMI interviews. Microphone can be connected to a j-card, & we can interview students, riding the jhmi, about random things that relate to civic engagement.
- Alumni Interviews. Our university holds a strong alumni network in all career fields & presenting this can increase student engagement.
- Committee collaborations. By collaborating with other committees, the probability of student engagement increases & more creative ideas can be presented.
End: Possibility to request addition to agenda on this week’s GBM (Sept 9th) It will be about handling of the SGA social media.
