Student Grievance Hall 2/25/25 C.S.S

Introduction and Purpose The Student Grievance Hall is a structured, open forum designed to provide students with a space to voice concerns, report grievances, and propose solutions regarding campus life, academic policies, student services, and other issues affecting the student body. The program will serve as a direct liaison between students and university administration to address and resolve concerns effectively.

Who Facilitators: Members of Student Services Committee Participants: Members of the undergraduate student body Potential Partners: Financial Aid Office, Dr. Brittni Brown, Charles LEED Office, Dining, Student Health and Wellbeing, A place to talk etc. S.S committee may extend invitations but attendance not mandatory

What

Hold structured discussions led by the Student Services Committee. Ensure a safe, respectful, and confidential space for open dialogue. Provide follow-up mechanisms to track and address concerns- MS Forms Share key discussion points at the next GBM (General Body Meeting) Proposed Structure Open forum with admin participation (as needed). Start with one general question to spark discussion. Possibly offer snacks Follow-Up Compile & present key issues to university leadership with proposed solutions. Provide regular updates to students on actions taken. Continuously adjust the program based on student feedback.

Where Our ideal vision for a location is a central campus location, that is easy accessible, but not spatially intimidating Potential Primary Locations Shriver Glass Pavilion Writing Center Krieger Classrooms Hackerman Additional Virtual Options for attendees

When Frequency: Biweekly, with admin once a month? Will alternate with current S.S Committee Meetings Potential Times Sundays @ 5:15 Weekday Evenings- may put out survey to determine times if necessary Hopeful Launch Date: Week directly after spring break Based on initial sessions- plan to fully implement at the beginning of fall semester

Promotion & Outreach Strategy The goal Maximum student awareness about and subsequent engagement at the Grievance Hall The game plan… Promote Social Media posts/stories of digital flyer (@jhusga + reposting) Hang physical flyers in high-traffic areas across campus Dining Hall scan-in stations Gilman Tunnel Levering Breezeway Brody (cafe area) Mudd (cafe area) Spray paint the Blue Jay statue the day before the first few meetings

Implementation Plan Establish clear date and location Reach out to administration for possible collaborations Design and distribute promotional materials Create form for anonymous submissions- MS Form With option for personalized follow up Submit funding requests for potential incurred costs For now just snacks

Expected Impact Ultimately, we hope this Grievance Hall initiative can help foster greater conversation between students, administrators, faculty, and all Johns Hopkins affiliates Greater transparency, improved communication, direct-line of contact Provide additional avenue for students’ voices and opinions Establish better understanding between SGA and student body Recognize important concerns, comments, and suggestions from the community
