Act to Fund Copa America event

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “XXX Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
3. CC- the term “CC” shall refer to Club Colombia.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES (explain why funding is needed, what the event is for, and what content and sponsorship is desired -- open to all? Celebrating event? Etc. )
2. What is Copa America Hopkins?
   1. Details
      1. When: Saturday, April 26th
      2. Where: Homewood Training Fields
      3. What: a soccer tournament to raise funds for Colombian non profits where Hopkins students can register to join a team to represent one of 8 countries:
         1. Argentina
         2. Brazil
         3. Colombia
         4. Cuba
         5. Mexico
         6. Peru
         7. Puerto Rico
         8. Player’s Choice: Haiti, Honduras
      4. It is open to the entire Hopkins community and brings together the Latine community, soccer aficionados and anyone wanting to celebrate the end of the semester.
   2. Event History
      1. A Club Colombia tradition based off of the CONMEBOL Copa América.
         1. Copa América is the oldest still-running continental football competition hosted in the Americas every four years.
      2. Third year of Copa América Hopkins
      3. 100+ Attendees
      4. $250+ raised to donate to charity
3. SGA Co-Sponsorship
   1. This event has historically been cosponsored by SGA in previous years.
   2. Event will be publicized as "SGA x [event name/student orgl" on all flyers, social media posts, and funding bill (in addition to the prominent SGA logo)
      1. If using Instagram to promote event this will be done through a collaborative post
   3. SGA will reserve the right to table at the event.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

1. The total amount would be $1400
2. Club Colombia able to contribute $500
   1. Approximately half of their semester allocation for SP25.
3. Need $900

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to x with x abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
