SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “JHUMA x JHGMSA Fall Rooftop BBQ”
SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.
- SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
- JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.
- JHUMA- The term “JHUMA” shall refer to Johns Hopkins University Muslim Association
- JHGMSA - The term “JHGMSA” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins Graduate Muslim Students Association
SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS & PURPOSES:
- The purpose of this event is for the Johns Hopkins University Muslim Association (JHUMA) and the Johns Hopkins Graduate Muslim Student Association (JHGMSA) to host a Fall barbecue. This event is designed to create a welcoming environment midsemester for students to relax and destress by providing a platform for social interaction and community integration across various academic schools.
- This event aims to foster mentorship, enhance networking opportunities, and promote dialogue among a diverse array of students, celebrating cultural richness while serving the broader Johns Hopkins community. It offers a welcoming environment that encourages participation from all students, facilitating connections across both undergraduate and graduate levels.
- By supporting this event, the funding will allow for a reduction in the cost of attendance, making it more accessible for students, which in turn will likely increase participation. This financial support is crucial to ensure that the event remains an inclusive and integral part of the Johns Hopkins community’s annual activities.
- The projected attendance for this barbecue is between 250 and 300 students from various Johns Hopkins schools, including the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences, Carey Business School, School of Education, Whiting School of Engineering, School of Medicine, School of Nursing, and Bloomberg School of Public Health
- The event is jointly funded, with JHGMSA contributing half of the necessary resources. This collaborative funding arrangement underscores the commitment of both JHUMA and JHGMSA to making the barbecue a successful, widely accessible event that enhances student life and fosters community bonds across Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.
The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.
