- Finance Update & Discussion–Brandon
- Brandon said that after the long meeting on Tuesday, all allocations have been handled. All the emails are coming now from clubs who ask for more funds or ask why they were not allocated their budget. In the discretionary budget, we have around 12 thousand USD left.
- Charles asked if we are responding to the clubs who reach out about their budgets. Charles received five emails and had a club who he had a meeting with.
- Brandon said that he has been responding to them.
- Charles asked if he received anything from the SLAM Hip Hop Dance Group, to which Brandon said that he just saw their email. Brandon will respond to them.
- Charles asked if we no longer give them rentals. Brandon said that they prefer them to ask for Hop Vans. Brandon will work on these.
- Stone asked Brandon to cc executive board members in the next finance email.
- Stone suggested having a section where students can submit their questions about SGA Finance. Brandon said that they are supposed to reach out to their assigned person from finance, but having that additionally would work.
- Stone asked how useful finance representatives are in the committee. Brandon said that a majority of them complete their duties, but he’s getting a high volume of emails still, which makes things difficult.
- Stone said that cc’ing every executive board members would be a good idea so that the clubs know that we see their concern.
- Speed Dating Summary–Tim
- Tim said that the event was very successful. He said that at least 60 people participated, and this is the number of people who checked in. Emails of the matches have been sent out.
- The SGA Alumni Event is in the works.
- The Academic Affairs committee is thinking about organizing an event in the future.
- Tim will introduce a bill tomorrow for a senior memorabilia event. Tim asked if the Executive Board should have memorabilia.
- Stone asked to clarify what exactly that is, to which Tim explained that it is typically prepared for people who are graduating. Although not all Executive Board members are graduating, Tim thinks they should still prepare memorabilia.
- Stone said that Tim should focus on the seniors first, but then the executive branch could be considered.
- Stone asked Charles who will organize the Storytelling Event, to which Charles said that he’s working on it. Tim will be updated on the date of the event.
- Charles said that inauguration will be handled by him.
- Amy said that two matches from the speed dating were successful as they notified her of their endeavors.
- GBM Agenda–Nas
- Nasreen was excused.
- Petition Discussion–Stone
- Stone asked if everybody had a chance to read it.
- The Executive Board will open our meetings and update our website. Since we agreed to the terms, hopefully there won’t be a hearing.
- Charles asked what would happen if we didn't, to which Stone said that this might be brought up by someone else.
- Tim said that he does not want a public hearing as it would take SGA to a negative route. Tim believes that most SGA members will either think the claims are reasonable but not too significant or complete nonsense.
- Amy said that this hearing will probably be in March.
- Charles said that he would call in Luc and remind Jackson what he could do with his time instead. Charles asked us to not respond to this now as he is figuring something out. Since we have four days, Charles asked us to wait until the last day so that this doesn’t get in the way of the work we are doing. Charles will come into the meeting tomorrow but to talk about other topics.
- Buse, Tim and Stone provided suggestions as to what to explain to the senate. Charles asked us to keep it short.
- LEED will come in tomorrow to check in about the Student Center.
- Buse said that although she agrees with Jackson’s points, she is upset with the method he chose to tackle this as she would have expected him to reach out himself to provide advice.
- Charles said that although Jackson really cares about SGA, this was not a good way to use his time.
- Adler Archer–Stone
- Adler Archer is a veteran Hopkins professor. They are organizing an event on resilience, which comes forward as a Hopkins event. He asked Stone to attend with 10 SGA members. Stone doesn’t know the true nature of the event. Charles will review it before Stone decides to attend.
- Election Timeline-All
- Amy said that CSE decided to move the elections to after spring break. Luc and Alice talked about this decision. For the past three years, this has always been before spring break, so many are under the impression that this will be the case this year, too. Amy asked if we should talk to the senate about this.
- Charles said that the inauguration will still be the 15th of April, so they don’t get sworn in until then.
- Charles asked what the difference is, to which Amy said that people probably liked to finish the elections before spring break. Charles thinks that it is not that significant as if people want these positions, they won’t mind and we can’t ask to not change the date just because it has always been like that in the past. If people worry about the date of the elections, then they are not meant to be in SGA as they will deal with even worse things in the future.
- Stone thinks that after SGA might even be better.
