SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES
- FINDINGS
- There is a need to have fun outdoor events for the student body as Summer comes to an end and students return to School.
- Freshmen will benefit from a bonding event with different activities to engage different students.
- SGA aims to encourage student bonding and facilitate recreational activities for students on campus.
- The campus atmosphere would benefit from fun and de-stressing games and activities that students can partake in.
- During the Summer 2023 Leadership Retreat, various FSL and The HOP executive board members vocalized their wants to collaborate with SGA Programming. This event will better SGA’s polarizing image on campus, while persuading first-years to join.
(b) PURPOSES
- This act establishes funding for the Barbie at the Beach Event organized by the Junior Class and Programming Council. The Junior Class and Programming Council will be covering all expenses from decor, food, security, etc. This act will be used to cover the DJing and AV equipment that will benefit all classes.
- This event will be open to students of all classes.
- Tickets will be sold at the price of $5 (18th to 22nd September), with early bird pricing of $3 (during SIF), and on-day sale of $10 (Saturday).
- We want to show incoming first-years and students that JHU is collaborative, high-spirited, and a team of organizations rather than individual clubs. We are receiving DJing, marketing, and volunteering support from students representing FSL organizations including Phi Psi, Fiji, Kappa, and groups like Sirens Acapella, Eclectics, Alpha Phi Omega, WJHU, and The HOP.
