  • Sally Chinnis: Recap of March Meeting
    • Classroom Advisory Committee established Learning Environment Design Guidelines
      • What elements to prioritize and establish in classrooms
  • Shaffer Hall Update:
    • Complete renovation of third-floor classrooms and corridor, mechanical upgrades, sprinklers added, 2 more classrooms and computer labs renovated
    • Progress made, delay in sprinkler permit issuance, and final fire protection inspections
    • In the final phase
    • Loren Permuy: Computer Lab carpet is different from other rooms
    • Mary O’Connell: Not sure what she said
    • Loren Permuy: Addressing learning permit guidelines for corridors. Mentioned many new components/furniture
  • Remsen Hall Update:
    • Sally Chinnis: Project requested by SGA in Nov 2024 with student input at SIF
    • Substantially complete: Replaced all auditorium chairs in 01 and 101, new LED lighting, other new stuff
  • Lots of Wifi upgrades:
    • Will be done by start of classes
  • What’s Next:
    • Condition: Alignment with other planned building renovations, room condition and maintenance
    • Right sizing: current square footage per seat, what courses are currently scheduled in the space
    • Accessibility (for tiered rooms)
    • Strategy 1: Upgrading large auditorium first; Strategy 2: “Low hanging fruit”: Rooms that only need modest investments (don’t need many permits or funding)
    • Tara: More charging stations for students
    • Srigouri: Replacement desks are sloped so making them less sloped
    • Vishnu: Students would benefit more from larger classroom renovations
    • Tyler: More blue in classrooms like Mergenthaler and fixing broken desks
    • Sally Chinnis: Small classrooms that could benefit from renovation
    • Srigouri: Making sure it's easy to move around and arrange furniture in smaller classrooms
    • Sally Chinnis: Planning for future projects, will provide updates. Questions?
    • Srigoui: What do desks look like in Shaffer?
    • Lorena Permuy: Transitioning out of tablet arm chairs. Will change out furniture to more active learning
    • Vishnu: Expressed gratitude
    • Amynah Mithani: Want to keep the communication channel open

    • Just got budget funding, starting to figure out new student orgs, re-registration process
    • Srigouri: Committee Placements are done

    • Srigouri: Do we have a location for SGA GBM?
    • Charles: Student Center location!!
