SGA Fall Retreat Funding Bill

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the Fall Retreat Bill.

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

1. Each semester, an SGA retreat shall be held to foster friendly relationships between members and facilitate communication across the Senate and Executive Board about SGA’s core goals for the near future in a non-GBM setting.
2. The Fall Retreat will serve an additional purpose: to introduce newly elected SGA members to resources, rules, and regulations they should be aware of during their tenure.
3. The Fall Retreat will include a presentation about SGA information, catered lunch, an opportunity for professional headshots, and a fun bonding activity.
4. Recognizing the dietary restrictions of SGA members, the current cart contains vegetarian and gluten-free options. The exact items may change following further due diligence about allergies and dietary restrictions, but the overall cost will not exceed what is stated here.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

1. The total amount funded by SGA would be $1566.62.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 6. ACTION ITEMS.

1. To be done by Grace Guan before October 14, 2026: Contact JHU Photography Club and find a venue for the Fall Retreat on 25Live.
2. To be done by Grace Guan before October 21, 2026: Poll SGA members for availability and food preferences.
3. To be done by Grace Guan before October 28, 2026: Place orders for Ekiben and Amazon.`

The Bill is hereby ADOPTED/LOST by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
