Wellness Day Survey Funding Bill

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University assembled that:

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Wellness Days Funding Bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. HSS — The term “HSS” shall refer to the Health, Safety, and Sustainability Committee in the Student Government Association.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. FINDINGS & PURPOSES
    1. Mental health on campus is always a challenge. By creating a Wellness Day, students can get a break from the stress of daily academic life and actually engage with the multitude of resources available to them. In addition, having it during a school day can help support community building with students.
    2. Many other schools, including Morgan State University and UNC Chapel Hill, already incorporate some sort of wellness day in their school year.
    3. Leadership in Health Promotion & Well-being seemed very open to the idea and suggested we assess student interest and write a resolution.
    4. This idea was presented to the HSS committee and it was agreed upon.
    5. The Purpose of this funding bill is to have an incentive for students to fill out the Wellness Day Form and gain feedback on the event and other mental health programming.

SECTION 5 . SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or , the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
