AN SGA BILL

ACT TO REQUIRE INITIATIVE UPDATES FROM EACH SENATOR

INTRODUCED BY: Veda Kommineni - Freshman Class President

CONSIDERED THE DAY OF 31 IN THE MONTH OF March IN THE YEAR 2026

SECTION 1. TITLE This Act may be referred to as the “SGA Initiative Update Bill”

SECTION 2. FINDINGS & PURPOSES

  1. SGA — The term SGA shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. It’s incredibly important for SGA members to be working on personal or committee initiatives. It’s even more important for students to be motivated by the very people in this room.
  2. Amend the agenda each week to require 3 senators to speak for one minute each about their personal/committee initiative updates.
  3. The speakers will go in order according to the attendance spreadsheet linked here: Official SGA Attendance Sheet (2025-2026).
  4. If a senator will not be there, they should send a ~75 word update to the President of the Senate to be displayed in lieu of their speaking time.
  5. After each senator has spoken once, the cycle will repeat with the intent of providing updates since they last spoke.

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY.

Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional, or remainder of the Act, the amendments made by the Act, and the application of such provision or amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

UPON PASSAGE, WE HAVE HEREUNTO SET OUR HANDS AND CAUSED THE SEAL OF THE SENATE TO BE AFFIXED TO THIS BILL INDICATING THE SENATE’S ASSENT AND THUS OFFICIALLY DESIGNATED THE BILL’S ADOPTION AS LAW.
