JHU, Hopkins — The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to Johns Hopkins University. c. AKPsi - The term “AKPsi” shall refer to the Rho Psi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi co-ed business fraternity at Johns Hopkins University

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES

  1. PURPOSES
    1. Our beloved friend and AKPsi brother Amir Modaressanavi passed away last year from an unexpected stroke. Amir brought kindness, happiness, and unwavering support to everyone he touched and his passion for technology, sports, and community service left a lasting impact on our hearts. In his memory, we’re organizing a spikeball fundraiser tournament as he loved playing spikeball and was a part of the JHU spikeball club, with all proceeds dedicated to the American Stroke Association. We plan for it to be an opportunity to raise funds for a direct cause and a time to gather to celebrate his life.
  2. Findings
    1. Customized drawstring bags and Customized stickers: Description: we plan to have max 64 teams of 2 players each (128 total players) entering the event. We plan to give out a t-shirt to every entrant who is paying an entry fee to participate in the event. Rationale: we plan to incentivize players to enter and participate, and giving out merchandise will help players to have something to fondly remember this event with afterwards. We are also considering planning a spikeball invitational yearly and this would help establish a sense of community for both first-time and recurring players.
    2. Trophies: Description: we plan to have max 64 teams of 2 players each (128 total players) entering the event. We plan to run 2 tournaments, one for intermediate/beginner skill level, and one for advanced . The grand prize (for each winner) will be a custom designed trophy. Rationale: we plan to incentivize players to enter and participate; additionally, the titular Amir had a passion for spikeball and would have loved to see the sport spread joy to others.
