- Motion for 15 minute Q&A with 2 minute speaking time
- Senator Tim: For the mental health services, the barrier to the mental health services is high. From personal experience, they did not give me any information until 30 minutes before my same-day appointment. How do you lower this barrier to mental health?
- Dr. Howes: Some of the questions are clinical in nature and need to respond to this in a shorter time frame to ensure accurate and updated information. Treatment plans vary (counseling center, aligning time slots with preferred counselors). We are trying to accommodate as many students as possible, most students prefer weekly therapy, we often refer them to community health workers.
- President Jackson: Can we request for a point-by-point Q&A
- Senator Hailey: How is the counseling center going to improve the retention of staff and diversified staff (especially those who represent and work with gender minorities including LGBTQ+ youth)?
- Dr. Howes: We used to have staff who worked with gender minorities and had experience in gender-affirming care who left in September 2023. We have staff who are available in consultation while we are looking for another staff member. We have those who can write letters.
- Director Axe: We also have counselors who are learning and being trained in gender-affirming care.
- President Dobbs: Are there any training available that faculty could complete for SDS.
- This past summer, we created a training module including SDS training in this course. This was our pilot say of implementing SDS into faculty training so that we could assess and receive feedback and see if it appeals to the university community
- Senator Adi: It appears that there are limitations on the number of visits and prices at the SHWB center. How will you address this issue?
- There are actually no limits on the number of visits despite the insurance. We work on the outside vendor in terms of the SHWB resources so we do not decide on anything in terms of student health access
- Senator Resham: How will you facilitate trust in this SHWB especially in terms of mental health?
- Diversified resources such as the counselors, funding towards making SHWB resources known throughout campus
- Middle States Presentation - Vice President Jackson Morris
- Israel-Palestine Discussion (30 minutes) - President Dalhart Dobbs & President Rachel Huang
- Motion for a closed session
- Motion for the members of the public who are in this forum to remain
- Motion for open session
- Dalhart: Thank you to each student organization for coming to discuss your experiences. Moving forward, SGA can sponsor a moderated discussion with the SNF Agora professor to facilitate more discussion. We will release a press release in next 24-48 hours so if you want to ensure anonymity in these releases (you are all anonymous on the closed session notes)
- Academic Affairs Survey - President Resham Talwar and Senator Tim Huang
- Resham: Please provide feedback on Teams
- Tim: Met with Dean Rowe yesterday, has documentation on what KSAS wants to do with Q2. Forming a presentation for next week about the implementation feedback. Q2 policy itself cannot be changed
