On April 7, 2025, the Sigma Sigma Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. made history organizing the first ever Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant at Johns Hopkins University (JHU) to more than 150 guests and partners, earning the Chapter praise from the JHU Student Government Association as the student organization with “the greatest positive impact on campus.”
As we prepare for the 2026 Miss Black & Gold Scholarship Pageant, we are writing to continue and strengthen our partnership with the 113th Student Government Association. SGA’s commitment to investing in student leadership, scholarship, and community-building makes you not only an ideal sponsor, but a natural partner in sustaining and expanding this growing campus tradition.
This pageant is more than a single evening program, it is a leadership and scholarship initiative that uplifts women on our campus through mentorship, fundraising, service, and professional development. Continued SGA support would directly contribute to:
- Academic scholarships for pageant participants and the Winner’s prize
- Event preparation costs including amplified sound, props, drapes, etc.
- Forthcoming Chapter events, drives, and initiatives that advance our shared community uplift goals and priorities.
