An SGA Funding Bill

Act to Fund April 2026 Nutrition Tabling

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “April Nutrition Tabling”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES. FINDINGS and PURPOSES:

  1. Nutrition impacts one’s physical and mental health. Whether a college student is eating in a dining hall or cooking meals on their own, they might not be informed of how to compose balanced meals and obtain all the nutrients they need.
  2. The purpose of this tabling would be to provide healthy recipe cards for students who cook and have a trivia focused on nutrition questions. The reward for getting a trivia question right would be a fruit cup of fresh berries (antioxidants).
  3. The trivia questions will be made by the Health, Safety, Sustainability (HSS) committee. We will potentially collaborate with the Recreation Center to get the bike that powers smoothie blending.
  4. This event will take place on April 10th from 10am-12pm at the Breezeway.

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 6. ACTION ITEMS.

  • 3/9: Bill to get passed tonight and approved in Finance Committee tomorrow
  • 3/24: Funding bill gets passed in second reading
  • End of 3/28: LEED puts in order by the end of the week
  • 4/10: Tabling event staffed by HSS

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
