A Bill Funding the Student Government Association Fall Retreat

Referred to the senate by the Committee on Finance which recommends its passage by a vote of 8 to _.

Be it enacted by the Senate of the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University assembled that:

SECTION 1. TITLE.

This Act may be referred to as the “SGA Fall 2023 Retreat Funding bill”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS. a. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University. b. JHU, Hopkins — The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to Johns Hopkins University. c. Fall Retreat– The term fall retreat shall refer to the event tentatively scheduled on October 28th for SGA members to bond with and get to know one another

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES

  1. Findings
    1. SGA is experiencing a lack of connection.
    2. A lot of members of SGA are also new given new expanded structure.

b. PURPOSES i. This retreat would help new and old members understand more about SGA, connect with different branches, and gain a greater connection with each other.

a. The current cost range is estimated to be from $1875 to $2675

  1. This is estimated for 75-80 people
  2. This was planned for October 28th but this can be moved it doesn’t work with most people’s schedules
  3. Also, I am working on finding a Hot pot/kbbq place that can accompany this many people. If not, I plan to cater from a place of your choice

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY.

Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

The Bill hereby PASSES/FAILS by a vote of X to X with X abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
