Act to Fund Affirmation Kits Funding Bill

Affirmation and Wellness Initiative

SECTION 1. TITLE. This Act may be referred to as the “Affirmation and Wellness Initiative”

SECTION 2. DEFINITIONS.

  1. SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University.
  2. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University.

SECTION 3. FINDINGS AND PURPOSES.

  1. Work with A Place to Talk (APTT) to promote mental health awareness and provide affirmation for students, especially as the semester gains momentum
  2. Enhance dialogue between students and organizations to better serve students and to also show support and provide resources
  3. Mid-semester boost, affirmation cards, mental health resources, and other wellness treats and items
  4. Distribute affirmation kits and promote the different resources here on campus, including APTT
  5. APTT will also put together mental health resource cards and affirmation cards to place inside each goodie bag
  6. Work together to provide students with practical and meaningful support and encouragement during the midterm season.
  7. APTT and Student Services Committee will pack the kits together on 3/25
  8. APTT and Student Services Committee will distribute the kits on 4/1
  9. APTT willing to cover 30% of total cost
  10. Aiming to give out at least 250 bags

SECTION 4. FUNDING OF ITEMS

SECTION 5. SEVERABILITY. Should any provision of this Act, an amendment made by this Act, or the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstance be held to be unconstitutional or, the remainder of this Act, the amendments made by this Act, and the application of such provision or amendment to any person or circumstances shall not be affected thereby.

SECTION 6. ACTION ITEMS.

  • Bill to pass tonight (3/10) and for Finance Committee to approve tomorrow
  • LEED to put in the order by the end of the week
  • Event to occur in conjunction with APTT as soon as the materials come in

The Bill hereby Passes by a vote of x to 0 with 0 abstentions.

Upon passage, we have hereunto set our hands and caused the seal of the Senate to be affixed to this bill indicating the Senate’s assent and thus officially designated the bill’s adoption as law.
