SGA Haunted House Event Introduced By: Programming Chair John Cintron, Programming Secretary Jazzlyn Fernandez, and Programming Treasurer Joshua Brown of the Freshman Class Sponsored By: President Vishnu Dontu of the Freshman Class, Senator Arihant Singh of the Freshman Class, Senator Jaden Williams of the Freshman Class, Senator Tarini Basireddy of the Freshman Class, and Senator Omotara Tiamiyu of the Freshman Class

This Act may be referred to as the “SGA Sponsor Funding for the Haunted House Event”

SGA — The term “SGA” shall refer to the Student Government Association of The Johns Hopkins University. JHU, Hopkins - The terms “JHU” and “Hopkins” shall refer to the Johns Hopkins University. CO2027 - The term “CO2027” refers to the Hopkins Class of 2027. TNH - The term “TNH” shall refer to the Haunted House venue: “The Nevermore Haunt”. Located in Inner Harbor.

The purpose of this event is to connect the Hopkins student body in a fun way to celebrate Halloween! A poll was released to the Student Body via. the official Instagram page for the class, and the overall majority of the freshman student body desires a haunted house event for halloween. This is a very large sample size (as shown in figure 1), which is a valid representation of the Hopkins student body as a whole.

This event will provide a fun and enjoyable night for all students, regardless of class. According to TNH, “Our event runs from 7-11pm that evening, your group can arrive all at once or staggered anytime between that window to enter the attraction. In addition to our haunted house attraction we will also have our front of house entertainment which includes fire dancers, strong man performances as well as food-trucks (Jimmys Seafood and Soul Food BBQ scheduled that evening) and an on-site bar for guests 21+ older.”

Funding The total amount would be $2544.00 All other funding (transportation and various costs) for this campus-wide event will be donated by the Class of 2027.

When & Where The event will be held at TNH on Saturday, October 28, with a pickup time of 6:30 PM at the Beach, and a return pickup time of 11:00 PM at TNH. Pickup will be done through Hopkins Custom Transportation Services.

Promotion Promotion for the event will take place via. Hopkins Groups, mass emails, social media marketing (Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook, etc.) The max capacity for this event is 120, so demand will be very high (it’s FREE for attendees), thus why the registration will be set to open at a specific time on Campus Groups.
